Weatherford College Discussion
Description
When studying ethics, it’s important to consider the underlying assumptions and logic that lead to public opinion on current events, policies, and other matters affecting everyday life. Select a recent opinion piece from either The Guardian or NPR on a topic of your choice and address the following:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/jul…
For your initial post, share a link to your editorial so that your peers and instructor have access to it. Then, answer the following questions:
What is the argument of the opinion?
What resources are referenced to support the argument?
What are the underlying ethical principles or assumptions in the opinion?
Are there examples of ethical egoism, relativism, or utilitarianism?
Would any of the ethical theories discussed in this unit support a better argument or even a counterargument to the author’s position? Explain.
